Local programs, promos, and underwriters need to be ingested manually into the PMM system. All media should be transferred to the Aspera_Cache folder which is on the Crispin LoadingDock server. This folder should be mapped from your user workstation in Master Control, if it is not contact the PMM NOC for assistance.

Initial Steps

  1. Make sure that file to be ingested has been delivered to the Aspera_cache folder. This can be done from any of the Node workstation computers, using the windows file explorer. There are shortcuts on the desktops to the folder.
  2. Open up ProTrack and login with the Master Control credentials.
  3. The steps now split based on the type of content being ingested.

Interstitial Material

  1. For interstitial content, go to the Promo/Filler menu option and select Interstitial Search.

2.   Search for the item to be ingested by entering the Media ID in to the Video Source Field and press enter. When Prompted about expired items select No.

3.   A window will open with the promos that match the search results. Open the promo that is to be ingested by double clicking on it.

4.   Once in the entry, the dub request can be started by going to Tools, and then Dub, or by pressing the F12 key.

5.   At this point, a spinning wheel will appear as ProTrack processes the request. In a few seconds a window will pop up saying ‘Dub Order Sent’.

6.   Repeat for other items to be ingested.

Program Material

1.   For Program Material, go to the Media Toolbar and select Media ID Search.

2.   Press Q to start a query for material, and enter the Material ID into the Material ID field and press enter. When prompted about expired Items, select No.

3.   A window will open with the search results. Open the Program that you are ingesting by double clicking on it.

4.   This opens the Program Details for that show. From this window, select Tools and then Media Info, or press the F1 key.

5.   This will now open the Media Information for that program, which will include any media attachments. To ingest the media, select the appropriate asset from the Local Media section, then go to Tools and select Dub, or press the F12 key.

6.   At this point, a spinning wheel will appear as ProTrack processes the request. In a few seconds a window will pop up saying ‘Dub Order Sent’.

7.   Repeat for other items to be ingested.

Missing Media Report

Ingests can be initiated from the Missing Media report in ProTrack so long as the media exists in the Aspera_cache folder. Select the appropriate asset from the results window of the missing media report and select "Dub Order" at the top of the window:

Tracking Progress of the Ingest

The ingest has now moved over to the Crispin Loading Dock, and the progress can be monitored in the web interface.

You can find more informationon LoadingDock by click here or contacting the PMM NOC.

QC process

Once the media has been successfully ingested, Dubber can be used to QC the content. To ensure all Start of Message (SOM) and metatdata is consistent across ProTrack and Crispin, “clear marks” should be clicked when the clip is loaded. The in & out points can be updated as needed, then select “save marks” and “copy to mirror”.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            Figure 1.2

Marks can be verified via Dubber by loading the file into either side of the application and selecting “view set information”. Note that when a clip is loaded into Dubber it will not display the marks in the Crispin database unless “view set information” is selected.

Special Notes for replacing existing content

If the file being ingested is replacing content that was previously in the system, there is an additional step to be taken. Before starting the ingest process, the existing content must be purged from the Crispin LoadingDock and the Harmonic MediaDecks.
